Surya

     Uttani, Kumbakonam Taluk, Thanjavur District. About 10th Century AD.

      Surya standing on a padmasana carrying lotuses in both the hands. There is an aureole around his head. He wears necklets, yajnopavita, udarabandha, armlets, wristlets, padasaras and a waistband with tassels on either side.

     Penukonda, Anantapur District. Andhra Pradesh. About 17th Century AD.

      Venugopala standing with his right leg crossed over the left. Two of his four hands hold the conch and discus. The other two hands are held in the attitude of playing the flute. There is a prabhavali around him in which the other incarnations of Vishnu are shown. There are also gopis and cows carved on the lower portion of the prabhavali.

     Tadpatri, Anantapur District. Andhra Pradesh. About 15th Century AD.

     Image of a saint shown as standing cross legged, leaning over a stout staff. He wears a pair of kundalas on his ears. For ornaments he wears armlets, wristlets and anklets. His undergarment is arranged in folds. He is shown as sporting a long beard typical of saints.

Saptamatrikas

     Tripurantakam, Kurnool District, Andhra Pradesh. About 10th Century AD.

      Saptamatrikas carved on a soft stone which is weather beaten showing Brahmi, Mahesvari, Kaumari, Vaishnavi, Varahi, Indrani and Chamunda. The Vehicles are also seen. The vehicle of Chamunda here in this panel shown is a jackal which is peculiar.
