        It is an oil painting painted in 1901 by Raja Ravi Varma, the harbinger of modern art in India. The artist had used dark background in the painting in order to give relief to the main pictures which are light yellow.

Sakuntala

        It is an oil painting on canvas painted in 1901 by Raja Ravi Varma (1848-1906). The painting illustrates an episode from Kalidasa's Sanskrit play. The heroine Sakuntala is seated under the palmyrah tree. Her facial expression shows that she is lost in her thoughts. In the background Sage Dhurvasa is entering the hermitage.

        It is an oil painting on canvas painted by Raja Ravi Varma in the year 1894. The picture shows a lady holding a mirror in her hand and combing her flock of hair. The beauty of her hair style eloquently painted by the artist is noteworthy. This painting won Governor's gold medal.

        It is an oil painting painted in 1894 by C. Raja Raja Varma, the younger brother of Ravi Varma. The artist's study of life and landscape in his paintings is noteworthy. This scene was sketched by the artist on his way back from Chamundi hills and later painted.
