Dvarapalaka

     Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. About 6th Century AD.

    Dvarapalaka holding a club with a small snake entwining it. Of the other hands one holds a noose, one is in tarjani attitude and another in vismaya. The legs are crossed near the feet. An unusually big piece with good workmanship.

     Shown as  a small dwarfish Yaksha holding lotuses in his hands.

 

Elephant

    Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. About 6th Century AD.

    An elephant carved most beautifully with its trunk coiled into a loop. There are bells on its neck.
